A Hot New Spot For Street Style Japanese Cuisine Launches In Shangri-La Hotel Dubai

Lovers of high quality Japanese cuisine are in for a treat with the launch of a new dining concept called ONI, a Japanese, street-style restaurant, lounge and sake bar located in the Shangri-La Hotel on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai.

Opened on the 31st of January the Asian infused cuisine combines the freshest locally sourced ingredients with a relaxed ambiance and special themed nights to provide customers with a unique dining experience. The message behind the new dining concept is authentic, varied dishes mixed with warmth, friendliness, and a laid-back vibe in order to create a sense of place and community for diners.

“The aim with ONI is to make you linger whilst enjoying our menu. We encourage our clientele to mingle while they experience our great tasting food, in an intriguing atmosphere with excellent, attentive service. The mission is not only to have a great dining experience, but to have all round entertaining, enriching and affirming sojourn into Far Eastern ambience. This is ONI’s unique offering,” said Mohamed Islam, ONI’s CEO.

“We want to be the restaurant choice for all families and singles, young and old, male or female,” added Islam, “and to deliver good food, efficient and friendly service because customer satisfaction is paramount. To further delight our customers the menus will change with the seasons and are intentionally focused on the purity of ingredients of Japanese local farmers. The majority of our ingredients come straight to our door from heavenly Hokkaido’s “Hakodate Asaichi” which means morning market.”

The restaurant stands out from other restaurants in the area because of the unique design and décor and the creation of an exclusive and innovative dining atmosphere that differentiates it from the competition. ONI offers a casual dining experience in a cozy venue, coupled with fine product quality, delivering not only great food but great service and an unmatched atmosphere.

The management team behind ONI come with a combined hospitality experience amounting to over 100 years. All were leaders in their respective fields covering restaurant and hotel catering, management, finance, marketing, art and motion pictures. Part of the magic ingredient that makes ONI so unique is its hiring and training programs. Only the most qualified staff are retained, and training and motivation is on-going to encourage a highly skilled and friendly team to welcome all customers.

“We want our employees to feel a part of the success of ONI’s. Happy employees make happy guests. The service will be relaxed, very friendly and correct.  Today restauranteurs must look for ways to stand out from a crowded market. We aim to be the 'new look' of the community that is sophisticated, fashionable and entertaining. The fact that no other restaurants in the area has this concept presents us with a window of opportunity and an entrance into a profitable niche in the market,” said Islam.
