’High’ Brow Opening For World Art Dubai As Mr Buti Saeed Al Ghandi Tours Fair’s Fourth Season

Mr Buti Saeed Al Ghandi, Second Vice Chairman of the Board, Dubai World Trade Centre Authority, toured the fourth season of World Art Dubai at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) today, leading a delegation of officials and high-profile members of the local and global art community in opening the region's leading affordable art fair's largest outing to date.

With more than 300 artists and galleries showcasing their eclectic and artworks during the flagship Dubai Art Season event, which ends on Saturday 21st April, Mr Buti Saeed Al Ghandi took in a stunning collection of more than 4,000 original contemporary artworks, paintings, sculptures, digital photographs, custom-made installations and more.

Part of the opening delegation, Trixie LohMirmand, Senior Vice President, Exhibitions & Events Management at DWTC, said: "World Art Dubai continues to show significant year-on-year growth and meets the city's insatiable demand for a unique art platform where established collectors and newcomers to the art world can access and purchase affordable art from emerging domestic artists and their international contemporaries."

In addition to more than 150 exhibitors and 50 galleries from across the UAE, World Art Dubai 2018 features artists from all corners of the globe, including the USA, the UK, India, China, Peru, Denmark and Germany, amongst others.

World Art Dubai also features dedicated national pavilions from India and Japan - which will host a VIP Japanese Cultural Evening of exclusive calligraphy sessions, music and entertainment on Thursday - with the international participants underlining the affordable fair's growing global reputation and Dubai's position as one of the world's leading cultural and creative hubs.

With artwork prices starting at just USD100, World Art Dubai 2018 features a comprehensive schedule of family-friendly activities away from the core exhibition, including a series of panel discussions with industry experts from The AJALA Project, Dubai Cares, Huawei and more. The panel sessions will cover topics including 'Art and Impact, What Does it Really Mean?', 'Waste Shouldn't be Wasted', and 'Art, Travel and Photography'.

Elsewhere, visitors will be encouraged to unleash their inner artist throughout the weekend courtesy of a curated bill of installations, activations, art talks and interactive workshops on how to create a dreamcatcher, produce Mandala Art and explorations of Islamic Geometry with local artist, Jaber Alhaddad.

Outside the World Art Dubai exhibition, the Ripe Craft Market is open daily with dozens of local exhibitors displaying hand-crafted lifestyle gifts, arts, crafts and furniture, as well as unique fashion and jewellery finds, while an Art Attack chill-out area will offer an escape for both adults and kids alike. What's more, in celebration of the Year of Zayed, Forever Rose will be showcasing an inspired portrait of Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan at the show, inspired by a photo taken around 1957 which is part of an extensive and remarkable collection in the UAE National Archives.

World Art Dubai 2018 is open from 2pm to 9pm from Wednesday 18th April to Saturday 21st April. Tickets cost AED25 on-site.
