DEWA Organises Brainstorming Session For Employees Of Determination To Ensure Their Integration In The Workplace

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has organised a brainstorming session for its employees who are people of determination, at its ‘Reading is Positive Energy’ tent in Zabeel Park in Dubai. The session, which featured innovative reading activities, supports DEWA’s strategy to integrate and empower all its employees. The session is part of the activities that the Absher Office, in DEWA’s Business Support & Human Resources Division, organises for employees who are people of determination and the regular meetings it holds with them to learn about their work needs and ensure their accessibility to buildings, facilities, services and information.

“DEWA attaches great importance to its employees who are people of determination and gives them priority in its social and awareness programmes. This is in line with the National Policy to Empower People of Determination, which was launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to create an inclusive society that ensures empowerment and a decent life for people of determination and their families. This also support the ‘My Community... a City for Everyone’ initiative, launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, to transform Dubai into a city that is friendly for People of Determination by 2020. DEWA is also committed to achieving the UAE National Agenda for inclusive employment, to enhance the capabilities of people of determination and provide them with professional and operational skills that support their economic and social independence. This session is part of DEWA’s knowledge initiatives that aim to build a knowledge-based society, spread a culture of reading, promote Arabic as a language, and make a positive change in society by raising a cultured generation of readers who contribute to enhancing the UAE’s cultural development,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

Al Tayer emphasised that DEWA provides a fully equipped and flexible environment that enables employees of determination to unleash their capabilities and potential, enhance their inclusion in society, and find new ways to involve them in their social environment as capable and creative individuals. He noted that DEWA launched the Absher initiative to take care of its staff who are people of determination. It involves a dedicated team of qualified specialists in human resources, in addition to a hotline to streamline their procedures.

This helps us develop strategies and plans that take into account their specific needs and capabilities. These activities are a suitable platform for them to meet and discuss topics that matter to them.
