Intelak, the aviation, travel and tourism incubator led in partnership by the Emirates Group, GE and Dubai Tourism & Commerce Marketing, celebrated its second anniversary today at a ceremony held in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive Emirates airline and Group. Hosted at the Emirates Group Headquarters, the ceremony was attended by senior delegates from the partner organisations, the Dubai innovation ecosystem as well as previous winners who had graduated from the incubator programme.

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed said: “Innovation is the energy that fuels economic growth and prosperity. In its first two years of operations, Intelak has already played an important role in nurturing innovators and entrepreneurs with an aim to redefining the travel, tourism and aviation industries. I congratulate not only the principal partners of the programme but also the graduates who will be key in driving progress.”

Winners of the fourth cohort announced

The winning teams of the fourth and most recent cohort of the Intelak incubator programmes were also announced during the ceremony. The teams will receive seed funding of AED 50,000 each as well as access to a two-month accelerator programme at Dubai Technology & Entrepreneurship Centre (DTEC) where they will be mentored by leading business experts, thought leaders and coaches.

UIQT Inc., Airspace, 16Trips, and Travezy were the winning teams selected out of a pool of more than 100 applications, by judges from the principal partners following an intense week-long boot camp. UIQT Inc. is developing a travel booking platform that understands user preferences and provides suggestions for tours booked by people with similar interests allowing an enhanced and enjoyable travel experience. Airspace focuses on digital industrial innovations with their product ‘Blockbook’, which aims to use blockchain technology for seamless verification and validation of aircraft records for maintenance operations. 16Trips is an educational travel marketplace that connects young travellers and students with educational experience providers and opinion leaders to build unique travel experiences. Travezy is developing an inventory-led travel model based on blockchain and will offer Travezy Flash sales and Club Travezy memberships for travellers.
