Dubai Media Office, French Media Industry To Boost Relations

The Government of Dubai Media Office (GDMO) held meetings in Paris aimed at promoting closer relationships with the French media industry. GDMO Director-General Mona Al Marri met with Marie-Christine Saragosse, Chairwoman of the Board and CEO of France Medias Monde and Ernotte Delphine, President and CEO of France Televisions, to discuss a wide range of issues of mutual interest.

Al Marri said, "The meetings with French media leaders are part of GDMO’s larger objective of promoting dialogue and closer interactions with leading media organisations across the world. Our discussions in Paris enabled us to share each other’s experiences and explore new avenues for cooperation and knowledge sharing. I had an opportunity to gain a greater understanding of the growth experiences of two of France’s largest media companies, and share with them the insights we have gained from the evolution of UAE’s media sector. One of the key focuses of our discussions was exploring opportunities for partnerships to expand our training platform for media and communication leaders."

"Furthermore, we exchanged ideas on how we can work to foster a meaningful dialogue between the media communities of the east and west on shaping the future of global media. In particular, we discussed how French media leaders and organisations can potentially contribute to the conversations on the development of media at events organised by the Dubai Press Club like the Arab Media Forum (AMF) which brings together over 2500 media professionals from the Arab world and beyond. To facilitate a greater dialogue, we also looked at the possibility of mutual visits between our two sides," Her Excellency added.

Marie-Christine Saragosse and Ernotte Delphine are two of the most influential women leaders in the French media industry. "We had a very productive discussion on how we can promote the greater participation of women in the global media industry and expand growth possibilities and leadership opportunities for them," Al Marri said.

Saragosse is the head of France Medias Monde, a holding company that manages the three major public French media groups which broadcast or publish internationally. The group comprises the news channels France 24 (in French, English, Arabic and Spanish), the international radio station RFI (in French and 13 other languages) and the Arabic-language radio station Monte Carlo Doualiya. From Paris, France Medias Monde broadcasts to the world in 15 languages.

Ernotte Delphine heads France Televisions, France’s public national television broadcaster formed from the integration of the public television channels France 2 and France 3, later joined by the legally independent channels France 5, France O and France 4.
