Dubai Customs Launches IPR Award 2018-2019

Dubai Customs, in cooperation with the Ministry of education, launched the 11th edition of its IP Award for Schools and Universities 2018-2019, in line with its IPR Department’s plan to encourage full community engagement in IPR protection and to educate students on their intellectual rights.

The first edition of the award was launched in 2007 as part of the IPR Department’s efforts to measure the upcoming generation’s awareness of IPR and educate the public about the risks of counterfeiting on consumers’ health and the country’s economy.

Yousef Ozair Mubarak, Director of IPR Department at Dubai Customs said: "The launch of the 11th edition of this award is a continuation to our success in the last years’ editions. We have been raising awareness amongst students around the perils of counterfeit products through the award for the last 11 years. This is part of an internal culture within Dubai Customs inspired by the wise vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai".

"We support innovation and authenticity in the UAE and we enhance our partnerships with different stakeholders to consolidate efforts in protecting intellectual property rights" added Ozair "This award helps us bring schools and universities together around the good cause of preventing counterfeiting and piracy".
