Gurudwara Dubai To Showcase Punjabi Culture, Heritage

Gurudwara Guru Nanak Darbar Dubai is set to celebrate the 'Year of Tolerance', coinciding with the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Devji, the founder of Sikhism, as part of the Punjabi Culture and Heritage Festival.

Set to take place at the Indian High School in Dubai on 22nd March, the event is held under the patronage and sponsorship of Al Maktoum Foundation Dubai, an organisation focused on humanitarian work at local, regional and global levels initiated by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance.

The festival will include a video presentation about the life of Guru Nanak Devji, the first of the ten Sikh Gurus, his teachings and travels, as well as panel discussions and sessions on Punjabi culture.

Commenting on the announcement, Surender Kandhari, Chairman of Gurudwara Guru Nanak Darbar Dubai, said, "We are proud to be living in a country that gives us so much to look forward to, especially during the Year of Tolerance, which provides us with immense opportunities to build strong bridges.

"The Gurudwara Guru Nanak Darbar Dubai feels the need to reciprocate with equal fervour and aims to showcase Punjabi culture and tradition. It is our way of giving back to the country and paving the way for a smooth flow of information that will further instill the true essence of coexistence."

Since 2012, the Guru Nanak Darbar temple has been the spiritual and cultural home to some 50,000 Sikh residents in Dubai.
