The Emirates Park Zoo: 2013 Best Year Yet











The Emirates Park Zoo has declared 2013 as the “Best Year Yet” since its establishment in November 2008. This was announced during a national celebration recently held at the Zoo, located in Al Bahia region in Abu Dhabi.

Major General Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, owner of the Emirates Park Zoo and Chairman of the Board of Directors attended the event, along with Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, ADEC’s Executive Director of School Operations. Also attending were representatives of the Ministry of Education, school and environmental activities sector; and members of the Emirati press, as well as more than 100 school principal.

The ceremony began with a tour of the various sections of the Emirates Park Zoo. Following the tour, the Chairman of the Emirates Park Zoo acquainted the guests with the Zoo’s new sections, notably the elephants section, the second predators section, and the biggest closed and air conditioned zoo in the Middle East.

In his address on the occasion, Al Nuaimi stressed that social responsibility and giving back to the community takes many forms, indicating that there are several and diverse areas of community service. “We are living in a civilized society that exceeded all expectations, which pushed us further away from the animal, our eternal partner since the dawn of history,” pointed out Al Nuaimi.

Concluding, Al Nuaimi expressed his thanks and praise for the visitors of the Emirates Park Zone, which welcomes each year more than half a million visitors of different nationalities from inside and outside the State. This positioned the Park as a globally recognized and preferred tourist destination in Abu Dhabi in particular and UAE in general.

For his part, Mohammed Salem Al Dhahiri of ADEC lauded this national landmark, which became a source of pride for every Emirati and Arab national.

“Nothing is impossible if you have ambition,” asserted Al Dhaheri, commending the Emirates Park Zoo, as a place of fun and learning for school students and the ideal destination where families can enjoy an entertaining and educational visit.

At the end of the ceremony, Major General Nasser Lakhrebani distributed certificates of appreciation to the Ministry of Education, the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC), school principals, and representatives of the local press.
