ETIHAD Fly-By At Al Ain Aerobatic Show

Visitors to this month’s Al Ain Aerobatic Show will be treated to a unique fly-by from Etihad Airways’ recently unveiled Formula 1™ branded aircraft. To help build global awareness of the Formula 1™ Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix taking place later this year, the Abu Dhabi-based airline has painted its latest aircraft delivery with an eye-catching F1 livery. Peter Baumgartner, Etihad Airways’ executive vice president, marketing and product, said: “This year’s fly-by will mark the second occasion that an Etihad Formula1™ branded aircraft has wowed spectators at the Al Ain Aerobatic Show.” The brand-new A340-600 aircraft has a ‘dynamic’ design with white at the nose leading to red at the end of the plane. The official Formula 1™ logo is featured on the engines and motor racing’s famous ‘chequered’ flag is on the tail fin. Mr Baumgartner added: “With the inaugural 2009 Formula 1™ Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix less than 10 months away, we are delighted to have another opportunity at this year’s Al Ain Aerobatic Show to thrill the crowds and generate excitement of what will be a hugely exciting event for Abu Dhabi and the UAE.” Formula 1™ is very much a theme at this year’s Al Ain Aerobatic Show as organisers recently confirmed that Aero GP – the multi-discipline air racing series – will make its Middle East debut at the event. The Al Ain Aerobatic Show, which is held under the patronage of H.H. General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nayhan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, is expected to draw an audience of more than 130,000 people from more than 40 countries around the world. The 2009 event is organised by the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority under the direction of H.H. Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority and Head of the Higher Organising Committee, in conjunction with the UAE Air Force. Etihad Airways is a gold sponsor of the Al Ain Aerobatic Show, a major highlight of the international aerobatics event calendar, which will take place between Wednesday 28 and Saturday 31 January 2009. Attendees will see impressive aerobatic teams from Italy, United States, Lithuania, United Kingdom, Hungary, Saudi Arabia and Austria. Static displays are also a highlight of the event, with several jet aircraft of varying size and description on display for enthusiasts to photograph.
