Gourmet Abu Dhabi Bringing Culinary Dividends To UAE Capital

Masterchefs In Talks To Open Abu Dhabi Restaurants

Gourmet Abu Dhabi – the 10-day culinary fiesta underway throughout 13 premier venues in the UAE capital – is bringing immediate dividends with members of its Michelin-star studded cast of masterchefs now in talks with entrepreneurs and developers to open signature restaurants within the city. “We have received extremely encouraging response and the city’s hospitality industry has got firmly behind the event which is really inspiring our indigenous food and beverage professionals. I am convinced the benefits will be new outlets and heightened standards of fine dining and service. It is an excellent start for an event which can deliver tangible business, tourism and positioning benefits,” said His Excellency Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoon Al Nahayn, Chairman, Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA), which is presenting Gourmet Abu Dhabi. The culinary extravaganza, which continues until February 14, has been well received by the UAE’s gourmet lovers with many of the masterclasses and chateaux dinners oversubscribed. And organisers of the event say one of the participating masterchefs is on the verge of signing a contract to open two fine dining outlets in the capital city. “Negotiations are entering a final stage so it would be improper to identify the chef concerned but two restaurants now look almost certain,” said Peter Knipp of the Gourmet Abu Dhabi organising committee. “Other masterchefs have also received offers which are now under active consideration.” ADTA has launched Gourmet Abu Dhabi as an annual, world-class event aimed at reinforcing the UAE capital’s growing reputation as a vibrant destination by leveraging its gastronomic strengths.
