"GREEN" ADCB Supports Earth Hour

Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) announced today the initiative to switch off the lights and equipment of its head office building located on Salam Street for a period of one hour on March 28th at 8:30 pm as a powerful message for a needful action against the threat of global warming. ADCB’s participation in the Earth Hour global initiative comes as the result of a series of activities that have been set to increase awareness on global warming and its effect on the environment while reducing our carbon footprint. "In realization of our social responsibility towards the community and the environment, we decided to participate in the Earth Hour to encourage other organizations to take concrete steps reducing their impact on global warming which represents a huge issue facing all of us, much more needs to be done afterwards," Mr. Ala’a Eraiqat, CEO, ADCB said. Earth Hour campaign is open to anybody who would like to participate and it is designed to demonstrate that individual action on a mass scale can help change our planet for the better. In a country with the largest ecological footprint in the world - a measure of the total resources used by each person - the hour will be a nod to the impact UAE residents have. In 2009, Earth Hour is being taken to the next level, with the goal of 1 billion people switching off their lights as part of a global vote. Unlike any election in history, it is not about what country you’re from, but instead, what planet you’re from. VOTE EARTH is a global call to action for every individual, every business, and every community. Over 74 countries and territories have pledged their support to VOTE EARTH during Earth Hour 2009, and this number is growing everyday.
