Etihad Strengthens Tourism Ties Down Under

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has teamed up with Tourism NSW as part of a joint marketing campaign to strengthen the Abu Dhabi-based airline’s links with Australia.

The campaigning will feed on the strong and growing air links between Europe and Australia to increase the number of tourists and business travellers flying to Sydney.

The airline’s chief executive, James Hogan, signed the deal with New South Wales Premier, Nathan Rees, who was in Abu Dhabi this week as part of a trade mission to target investment, tourism and job creation for NSW.

The joint campaign includes online marketing, outdoor and radio ads and online social networking to tourism markets in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Italy, Germany and France

Etihad Airways and Tourism NSW have been working together to promote NSW as the gateway to Australia in the Middle East and key European markets served by the Abu Dhabi-based airline.

Mr Hogan used the meeting to thank the NSW Premier for his support for the airline’s expansion in Sydney.

“Sydney continues to be a major destination for Etihad and we look forward to working with the NSW Government in the future,” Mr Hogan said.

Etihad began flying to Sydney in 2007 and currently schedules 11 flights a week from Abu Dhabi.
