With 350 Exhibitors From 28 Countries, "SteelFab" Kicks Off At Expo Centre Sharjah


Al Midfa: Growing demand for metalwork due to strategic expenditure reinforce the significance of "SteelFab"










Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Customs and Seaports Department inaugurated the 13th SteelFab Middle East 2017 Exhibition for metalwork at Expo Centre Sharjah. The event was marked by notable participation, with more than 350 exhibitors from 28 countries in participation. The exhibition kicked off today and runs till January 19.

Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Qasimi took a tour through the pavilions of the exhibition, visited its various sections and reviewed some of the  cutting-edge products and technologies of iron and steel industry.

The opening ceremony was attended by H.E. Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Chairman of Expo Center Sharjah, along with a number of SCCI’s board members, H.E. Khaled bin Butti Al Hajri, Director General of SCCI, H.E. Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, CEO of Expo Center Sharjah, Chairman of UFI’s MEA Chapter, and an array of  government officials, and industry experts.

This year, more than 1000 brands, national and international, are taking part in Steelfab, with 350 Emirati and international companies, showcasing their products on an area stretching over 26,000 square meters.

The exhibition includes special pavilions for various nations and companies. It offers visitors the opportunity to explore cutting-edge equipment, advanced technologies and products, and modern applications of all forms of metalwork, steel industry, surface engineering specialties, and material handling.

H.E. Saif Mohammed Al Midfa stated that SteelFab Middle East Exhibition is increasingly becoming one of the region’s top specialized events. He also noted that this is evident in the growing number of exhibitors, as some of the most prominent brands, national and international, has great enthusiasm to participate in this prestigious event every year.

Further, Al Midfa pointed out that outlooks point out to an increase in the demand for metalwork and steel industry due to the permanent strategic expenditure, especially on infrastructure, regionally, and particularly across GCC countries.

Al Midfa stated that this development strengthens SteelFab’s position as an important regional platform that offers an ideal opportunity to explore modern developments of steel and metals industry and to build business relations with the most prominent producing companies, importers, and investors in the field.

Al Midfa also highlighted the exhibition’s ability to maintain momentum and bring together leading companies from 28 countries. Al Midfa added that this stresses Sharjah’s significant position as an international and regional hub for industrial and commercial exhibitions which attract industrial giants from across the world.

According to Expo Center Sharjah, exhibitors stressed their keenness to participate in this annual event which is considered to be one of the most important commercial events for steel and metals industry on the regional level.

On the other hand, exhibitors praised the excellent organization and services Expo Center Sharjah offers. They also pointed out the remarkable attendance during the first day which reflects increasing demand by major sectors. This encourages producing companies in the region to seek to get equipment, advanced technologies, and state-of-the-art applications for shaping metals, manufacturing, welding, finishing processes, and others.

The exhibition will offer a variety of live shows, along with a number of technical seminars that will highlight some cutting-edge technologies and applications which help to serve this crucial industry. The exhibition offers the opportunity to explore modern technologies of welding, cutting, power tools, spare parts, pipelines, damage resisting technologies, metal shaping, finishing, grinding and others.

This year’s edition is accompanied by the industry-specific “Fasteners World Middle East” show for the second consecutive year, taking up an entire pavilion at the exhibition for fixing and fastening technologies.
