Fourth edition of FBMA Show Jumping Cup set to raise the bar Under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak 24 & 25 February 2017 at the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club ABU DHABI, 18th January, 2017 (WAM) -- Following three successful years, the annual Fatima bint Mubarak Academy, FBMA, International Show Jumping Cup returns for its fourth edition, on Friday 24th and Saturday 25th February at the Abu Dhabi Golf and Equestrian Club.

The two-day event, which is free to attend, is held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairperson of the UAE General Women’s Union, Supreme Chairperson of Family Development Foundation and Chairwomen of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood.

This year’s edition builds on the legacy of the event and is expected to see increased interest from the international equestrian communities and higher participation numbers than previous years. Over 120 participants are expected to showcase their skills and compete in the various categories.

Attendees at this year’s competition can experience a new interactive village full of fun, educational, equestrian activities that bring the sport to life.

The Cup highlights Abu Dhabi’s international contribution and commitment to sporting events in the UAE. It furthers the overall vision of FBMA encouraging Emirati women to adopt a healthy and active lifestyle. Aiming to instill the values of sport in the local community, the event fosters local talent and aspires to increase Emirati women’s participation in sporting events.

First held in 2013, the Equestrian Cup has enjoyed significant regional and international recognition, proven by an official endorsement from the International Federation for Equestrian Sports in 2016. Beginning as a ladies-only event, the competition expanded last year to include categories for men and children. This led to wider international participation in its third edition, with 92 riders from 17 countries.
