Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre supports Year of Giving initiative through 19 new partnerships

The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre recently entered into partnerships with 19 public and private groups as part of its intensified efforts to support the Year of Giving initiative during the Holy Month of Ramadan.

This is in keeping with the leadership's vision for social responsibility, as well as the private sector's contribution towards overall development.

The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, the Armed Forces Officers’ Club, Emirates Transport, VPS Healthcare and NMC Health are among the Centre's new partners.

Throughout Ramadan, the Centre will provide meals and 30,000 boxes of water bottles for the iftar banquets that are held at the mosque during this month.

Emirates Transport has provided electric cars for elderly people, families and the physically challenged at the mosque. VPS Healthcare and NMC Health have both provided 85 wheelchairs to serve elderly and physically-challenged worshippers.

Yousef Al Obaidli, Director-General of Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre, said the partnerships reflect the efforts to keep pace with the vision of the country's leadership, particularly President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who declared 2017 as the Year of Giving.

This, he added, is also in line with the directives of Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who had emphasised that the project was launched to benefit citizens and the entire country, while promoting philanthropy among individuals and organisations.

The name of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the namesake of the Centre and the founder of the UAE, is synonymous with generosity and charity, he noted.

These joint efforts reflect the Centre’s sense of social responsibility, Al Obaidli said, emphasising that growth and sustainability of the economy hinge on its contribution towards the economic, humanitarian and cultural development of society.
