Ministry Of State For Federal National Council Affairs Launches ’10 Years Of Achievements’ Report

The report looks back on the progress the Ministry has made since its inception in 2006, as well as the role it has played in raising political awareness among the general public.

“The Ministry of State for Federal National Council (FNC) Affairs has never settled for anything less than excellence over the past 10 years,” asserted Her Excellency Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of State for FNC Affairs, at the launch of the 10 Years of Achievements report, which summarises the Ministry’s accomplishments since its inception in 2006.

“We have worked tirelessly to coordinate between the executive and legislative branches of the UAE Government, redefining solidarity and synergy in the UAE and taking them to new heights,” H.E. added, citing the UAE leadership’s forward-thinking vision and focus on creativity and human resources development as foundations for the Ministry’s plans and strategies.

Over the past ten years, the Ministry has played a critical role in moulding and directing a parliamentary process that serves the interests of the country and its citizens, as directed by the UAE’s leaders who have called for forging effective partnerships across the board, H.E. Al Kaabi explained, looking back on the Ministry’s successful handling of the FNC elections in 2006, 2011, and 2015.

The report introduces the political empowerment programme of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, which took political participation in the UAE to the next level, all while adhering to policies and practices that suit Emirati society and the ambitions of the Emirati people.

The Ministry of State for FNC Affairs has been instrumental in strengthening ties between the government and the council, the report states, revealing that the Ministry has held periodic and consistent meetings between representatives from the federal government and their counterparts from the General Secretariat of the Federal National Council. These efforts ultimately brought 121 bills and 53 public issues to the table and provided answers for 405 questions. Moreover, the Ministry organised an unprecedented international conference to explore coordination between governments and parliaments, where 14 countries took part.

On another note, the report looks back on the progress the Ministry has made since its inception in 2006, as well as the role it has played in raising political awareness among the general public, piquing people’s interest in the Federal National Council and its numerous achievements, and promoting political participation by establishing the dedicated Department of Political Development, which has signed nine MoUs with relevant institutions and authorities.

In total, the Ministry organised 118 awareness activities that reached more than 13,000 people across all seven emirates, according to the report, which goes on to cover the programme launched by the Ministry to encourage federal government employees to visit the Council. As many as 1,364 employees from more than 85 federal and local government institutions and social organisations have visited the FNC since the programme was launched.
