The capital, which boasts exceptional cultural and visitor attractions, has successfully transformed itself into an international tourism destination. In partnership with the private sector - events companies, hotels and tourist destinations - we are proud to announce an engaging series of recreational and celebratory activities planned for December across Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra, activity that will further cement the capital’s standing as a destination of distinction.”

The announcement of the new calendar of events and activities followed The Department of Culture and Tourism’s launch of Advantage Events Abu Dhabi, an incentive scheme to develop content and programme collaboration with the private sector, and build on the already established annual calendar of vibrant and diverse events so as to drive upbinbound tourism. It is expected that both domestic and foreign companies looking to expand their footprint in the region will be the most likely to take advantage of the new Abu Dhabi scheme and deliver events with proven tourism appeal and positive growth potential.

The announcement included a reveal of the newly-launched ‘Dar Al Zain’ Festival which over 10 days every year will bring an exceptional family entertainment and leisure experience to the local community and visitors alike. In addition, the annual Abu Dhabi Food Festival 2017 will unite visitors around 15 events and experiences extending over 17 days. During the upcoming holiday season, Abu Dhabi invites visitors and residents to enjoy an exclusive line-up of entertainment and culinary experiences. Also, between 28 to 31 December the capital will host a New Year’s Eve Countdown Village with a one of its kind fireworks experience. The celebration will bring a best in class festival village with a distinctive night flavour as well as a range of famous name kids shows, DJs, concerts and local bands.

Sultan Al Dhaheri, Acting Executive Director for the Tourism Sector at the Department of Culture and Tourism, Abu Dhabi commented: “It is with great pleasure that we introduce these festivals to our city as we focus further on growing the local hospitality scene. This immersive calendar of festivities makes Abu Dhabi the place to be in December 2017 and furthers our commitment to building the ultimate hub for tourism.”

“With the launch of our Advantage Events Abu Dhabi incentive scheme, we are confident that private sector involvement in event development will grow, and we can build on the record numbers of visitors choosing to explore the emirate. Private companies should be aware that we now have a grant to support their business investments in Abu Dhabi and they can anchor the planning of their 2018 business activities and be part of the exceptional Abu Dhabi annual events calendar,” Al Dhaheri added.

The announcement at a press event included speakers from Miral and Zayed Sports City, also presenting their line-up, with Miral bringing Trevor Noah to Abu Dhabi, packages available for National Day, and Creamfields, in addition to the return of the favourite Winterland Carnival and exciting news still to come on New Year’s Eve.
