GCAS Re-Named ICAO’s Regional Training Centre of Excellence for the Middle East

The Gulf Center for Aviation Studies (GCAS) announced today that it has been successfully re-accredited as a Regional Training Centre of Excellence (RTCE) by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) for the Middle East region. As such, GCAS will continue to represent ICAO in the Middle East in three separate categories: Aerodromes, Air Transport, Flight Safety and Safety Management, further strengthening its status as the leading training organization in the region.

Commenting on receiving the award, Sultan Al Mansoori, General Manager of the Gulf Center for Aviation Studies at Abu Dhabi Airports, said:  “The re-accreditation of GCAS by ICAO as its Regional Training Centre of Excellence for the Middle East is a reaffirmation of the position the center holds within the region as a leading aviation training institution. This achievement also demonstrates further the important role Abu Dhabi Airports is playing in raising aviation standards around the world. Through this reaccreditation, GCAS will continue to provide efficient, credible and cost effective airport and aviation training solutions to the growing number of candidates and entities within the region, as the industry continues to grow and expand.”

The ICAO ‘Regional Training Centre of Excellence (RTCE)’ certificate was formally presented to GCAS last week in Astana, Kazakhstan, during the ICAO Regional Aviation Training & TRAINAIR Plus Symposium.
GCAS was opened in 2009 by Abu Dhabi Airports to support the development of national aviation professionals by bringing leading internationally accredited training modules to the UAE. In 2012 GCAS was awarded the Gold TRAINAIR PLUS full membership from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and is the exclusive JAATO aviation training center in the Middle East region. GCAS is also a major certified center and training hub in the region to deliver courses endorsed by Airports Council International (ACI) & the International Air Transport Association (IATA)
