Abu Dhabi Chamber, Tokyo SME Support Centre Discuss Cooperation

Ibrahim Ismail Fateh Ali Al Khaja, member of the Board of Directors of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of the Professional Sector Committee at the Chamber, has met with Kazumasa Susaki, Director-General of the Tokyo SME Support Centre, and his accompanying delegation, where they discussed opportunities for cooperation between both the chamber and the centre.

During the meeting, Al Khaja highlighted the Chamber’s desire to introduce international people in business and investors to Abu Dhabi’s economic sectors and investment opportunities, as it has a competitive and attractive investment environment, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises, SMEs. He also noted the importance of the meeting to inform entrepreneurs and investors about available opportunities in both Abu Dhabi and Japan, and in exchanging information and ideas to benefit both economies.

Al Khaja said that the Chamber welcomes the establishment of joint investment projects, which aim to strengthen the economic and investment cooperation between both countries, while stressing the Chamber’s willingness to provide the necessary assistance to Japanese businesspeople who desire to work or invest in Abu Dhabi.

He added that these opportunities will enable Japanese investors to easily access Gulf, Middle East and North African markets.

Susaki highlighted the importance of cooperation between the centre and the Chamber in supporting SMEs, while adding that the centre is the largest organisation that supports SMEs in Tokyo.

He explained that SMEs constitute over 95 percent of the total number of companies in Tokyo, while noting that they play a key role in the economy of the Japanese capital. The centre has an exceptional database, containing information on over 30,000 Japanese companies, which it could supply to other companies, he added.

Susaki went on to say that the centre is participating, along with 15 Japanese SMEs, in the Healthcare in the Middle East Conference and Exhibition, held in Dubai between 29th January and 1st February, 2018, at the Dubai World Trade Centre, DWTC.

He noted that the event is the largest gathering of healthcare specialists in the Middle East and North Africa, and affirmed the interest of Japanese SMEs to participate and present their services and innovations in this vital sector.

Susaki expressed his hope of strengthening the cooperation between the Chamber and the centre, to benefit SMEs from both countries.
