ADU Unveils ’’Year of Zayed Strategy 2018’’ |

The Abu Dhabi University, ADU, yesterday inaugurated its strategy for the 'Year of Zayed 2018' during a press conference held at its Abu Dhabi campus, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region and President of ADU’s Board of Trustees. The move is in response to the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to launch the "National Strategy for the Year of Zayed". Salem Mubarak Al Dhaheri, ADU Executive Director of Community Relations, and other ADU's officials as well as media representatives were present. The strategy includes various initiatives and activities aiming to commemorate the memory of the Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, honour his legacy, promote his values and vision and celebrate the achievements realised in the reign of Sheikh Zayed. Ali Saeed Bin Harmal Al Dhaheri Chairman of ADU’s Executive Board, said, "Our initiatives under the umbrella of the ‘ADU Year of Zayed Strategy 2018 aim to instill the values of the late Sheikh Zayed across the ADU community and nationwide. At the heart of its spectacular achievements that allowed the country to assume a position of preeminence regionally and internationally lies the vision of the late Sheikh Zayed. We are proud of the university’s success story and the milestones it achieved positioning it as a leading internationally recognised university known for quality higher education and enjoying prestigious international academic accreditations. ADU has succeeded in achieving its goals for Year of Giving through implementing 60 social initiatives which further strengthened its position in the local community." Al Dhaheri, in turn, said, "The agenda of ADU’s Year of Zayed 2018 Strategy would cover diverse social and cultural areas reflecting ADU’s commitment to the nationwide initiative." "The agenda starts with the launch of Sheikh Zayed Awards for Community Service, organisation of the Sheikh Zayed walkathon, as well as hosting people of determination at ADU." He added that during the month of May, ADU will witness the commemoration of the 100-year anniversary of the birth of the Founding Father. Various initiatives will also include "Because Zayed taught us" campaign, "workers Can Speak" English training, "We Read for Them" initiative, training programmes for special needs and Zayed Social Responsibility Event. "Zayed strategy campaign will conclude in December with our Year of Zayed themed national day celebrations," Al Dhaheri concluded. |
