An Unprecedented Turnout Of 13,000 Visitors To ’Morocco In Abu Dhabi’ In 10 days

In its third edition, "Morocco in Abu Dhabi" has achieved an unprecedented turnout, with a total of 13,000 visitors in 10 days from all over the country, giving them a great opportunity to learn about Morocco's rich cultural heritage in all its forms, being Morocco's architecture, music, art, cuisine, customs, traditions, fashion and heritage museum. The event will conclude its activities on Monday 19 March 2018 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC).

The Kingdom of Morocco has always been home for several nations and civilizations, leaving their personal signature shaping the country’s architecture, blending the Andalusian Islamic architecture with the traditional Mediterranean and European ones, and creating a memorable artistic masterpiece that can be seen and felt at “Morocco in Abu Dhabi” until March 19 at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.

The Moroccan architecture is characterized with particular elements that shape its identity such as domes, squares, tiles (zellige) and decorations. Morocco in Abu Dhabi’s hall – the event’s main courtyard – is beautifully surrounded with traditional Moroccan domes, and its various corridors of different designs are embellished with earthy colours and inspired by the Moroccan palaces’ designs especially those of Marrakesh. This central hall represents the heart of the event as it hosts the various daily activities.

The interior design of this year’s edition of "Morocco in Abu Dhabi" is meticulously rich; the floor is adorned with more than two million pieces of sandstone and the natural colour clay tiles, some of which are painted with pure gold, and the main wooden door as well as three secondary ones are hand-carved and decorated by more than 83 Moroccan sculptors and craftsmen.

The main atrium’s copper chandelier is also hand-carved, from which 35 luminous domes are hanging, whereas the event’s chandelier is expressively carved and hosts 1,000 light balls adding serenity and contentment to the hallways’ ambiance.

Furthermore, “Morocco in Abu Dhabi” hosts a special atrium for young innovators and creators, adding to this year’s platform a flair of evolution and modernity reflecting the creative minds and worlds of the younger generation, inspired by the culture of traditional Moroccan crafts. The event’s main hallway is a testament to the Moroccan engineers and craftsmen’s creativity, who excelled in the manufacturing and decoration of tiles, wood, copper and marble.

“Morocco in Abu Dhabi” is open to public until the 19th of March 2018 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, filled with a brotherly heritage environment, enriching the visitors’ memory and imagination with its diverse cultural, artistic and historical activities and antiquity collections.
