’Sinatra Of The Arab World’ Debuts At Abu Dhabi Festival 2018











The Palestinian singer and composer, dubbed by many as the rising 'Frank Sinatra of the Arab world', Omar Kamal, has brought his elegant stage presence to the UAE for the first time as part of Abu Dhabi Festival 2018, leading a big band and the United Strings of Europe orchestra through an eclectic catalogue.

The evening included hits by singing legends Frank Sinatra as well as classical renditions of timeless Arab idols like Abdelhalim Hafez and Fairuz. He also performed original works and compositions which garnered international attention, including from music industry leaders.

Kamal has garnered global recognition for playing his own instruments and composing his own music in a variety of genres and languages.

Running until 31st of March, Abu Dhabi Festival will see a line-up of globally renowned stars arrive in the UAE capital for its headline offering, including an Indian dance interpretation of a work by Rumi in We the Living by Tanusree Shankar Dance Company; a concert of global music and glamour with Pink Martini; an immersive multimedia experience in Pianographique, featuring works by Philip Glass, Steve Reich and Maurice Ravel, with live visualisations by Ars Electronica; the Sarod Master Amjad Ali Khan making his Abu Dhabi Festival Debut with a performance of expressive and entrancing works that demonstrate why he is revered as one of the greatest living Indian musicians; an epic evening of piano concertos for two, three and four pianos with The Bach Project; and, to conclude the Festival, Compania Nacional de Danza will make their Arab World Debut with Don Quixote.
