Abu Dhabi Convention Bureau Leads Delegation To IMEX Frankfurt 2018 |

The Abu Dhabi Convention Bureau, at the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, DCT Abu Dhabi, is set to spearhead the Abu Dhabi delegation participating at IMEX Frankfurt, the worldwide exhibition for incentive travel, meetings and events from 15th-17th May in Frankfurt, Germany. The delegation, led by the Abu Dhabi Convention Bureau, will comprise of 16 products, with representatives from Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, ADNEC, a selection of leading hotels and resorts, destination management companies, tour operators, and the emirate’s national airline, Etihad Airways. Promoting innovation in the Meetings Incentives Conferences and Exhibitions, MICE, sector, the award-winning trade show draws thousands of exhibitors and key decision-makers from around the world to Germany. The Abu Dhabi Convention Bureau expects the Emirate’s MICE sector will play a crucial role in Abu Dhabi’s overall economic diversification efforts in line with the 2030 Economic Vision, with participation in events such as IMEX Frankfurt 2018 playing a key role in facilitating such vital growth. With massive potential to attract a large influx of guests, it is estimated that business tourism could lead to up to four per cent GDP contribution by 2021. Mubarak Al Shamisi, Director of Abu Dhabi Convention Bureau at DCT Abu Dhabi, said, "Our mandate is to cement Abu Dhabi’s position as a destination of distinction for business tourism, and increase the sector’s contribution towards the Emirate’s overall economic expansion. As such, participation in events such as this are crucial to fulfilling these ambitious aspirations. Our partners will show that Abu Dhabi offers the necessary industry support structures to succeed as a hub for business travel, boasting robust infrastructure and world-class exhibition facilities and venues." Germany is one of Abu Dhabi’s fastest growing overseas source markets, having registered an increase of 36% for the first three months of March 2018, compared to the same period in 2017. IMEX Frankfurt will be welcoming more than 3,500 suppliers from every sector of the worldwide meetings industry this year. Suppliers will include national and regional tourist offices and convention bureaus, major hotel companies, conference and exhibition venues, cruise lines, airlines, spa resorts, technology providers, event management specialists and many more. Abu Dhabi Convention Bureau, which acts as a one-stop-shop for the Abu Dhabi Meetings, Incentive, Conference and Exhibitions industry, offering free advice, help with planning, PR and marketing, and invaluable local knowledge, is mandated to work to promote the emirate globally as a viable destination for international conferences and other business meetings. |
