Abu Dhabi Quality Launches First Program To Qualify "Lean Management" And "Sigma Six" Lead Auditors











 Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC), the entity responsible for developing an infrastructure of quality in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, has launched the first program of its kind to qualify Lead Auditors for organizations who are developing their processes to become "better, faster and cheaper" according to the purposes of improvement which Lean Management and Six Sigma adopted at the end of 2015 as international standard "ISO 18404".

This program is being organized in collaboration with the UK’s Royal Statistical Society (RSS), the world's leading international organization in this field, and Germany’s TÜV NORD as a certification body seeking to develop its capabilities in this field.

This initiative as a part of the developing plan that QCC adopting to raise the competency of the conformity Assessment Bodies working in Abu Dhabi. QCC launched, early this year, 32 proficiency testing programs covering 187 medical, environmental, construction, soil and inspection tests, aiming at improving the level of testing and inspection in Abu Dhabi in accordance with the best programs, scientific methodologies, and modern techniques adopted internationally in the field of quality and standards.

Engineer Abdalla Hassan Al Muaini, Executive Director of Conformity Scheme Services at Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council said: “At QCC, we are so proud to launch this pioneering training program in the Abu Dhabi Emirate, organized by the Royal Statistical Society for the first time outside the United Kingdom. The program is consistent with the council's mission to lead, facilitate and develop a standard infrastructure in Abu Dhabi that is globally integrated and highly efficient to enhance the quality culture, industrial development, competitiveness, and consumer safety. Such efforts reflect our leading role in the development of quality infrastructure in Abu Dhabi and contribute to achieving the objectives of the Abu Dhabi Plan in building a competitive economy supported by sound regulatory standards.”

This program is considered very important because it enhances the provision of sophisticated tools and methodologies to help private and public entities, regardless of their field of action and services or products, to reach advanced levels of quality control with an error rate of less than 3.4 errors per million opportunities. It also aims to reduce waste of materials, time, procedures and costs in the operations and services provided to clients. This methodology is an advanced methodology and predicts a great future in the worlds of industry, trade and services. Such efforts reflect our leading role in the development of quality infrastructure in Abu Dhabi and contribute to achieving the objectives of the Abu Dhabi Plan in building a competitive economy supported by sound regulatory standards.”

Professor Tony Bendell, Lead Trainer at The Anti-Fragility Academy & MD at Services Limited said: I was delighted to deliver the first of what I hope will be many ISO18404  Lead Auditor courses run in the Arab region, on behalf of the Royal Statistical Society, and in cooperation with  the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC), and on this occasion TUV NORD who, as a certification body are now ahead in this field. Six Sigma and Lean can make a major contribution to achieving the current widespread desire for efficiency and effectiveness being shown by public and private sector organisations across the Region.

However, it needs to be done right, and to the right standard, by staff qualified to global recognized standards. ISO18404 certification provides a means both to certify Six Sigma and Lean personnel as competent, and to certify the organization's management system against the globally recognized ISO standard."

Stuart McKendrick, Training and Business Manager at the Royal Statistical Society said: “The Royal Statistical Society (RSS) is delighted to work with the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC) to deliver a Lead Auditor course in Abu Dhabi to TUV NORD. Successfully completing this course allows TUV NORD to start certifying organisations’ Lean and Six Sigma management systems against an ISO standard. The RSS looks forward to working closely with QCC in promoting this important standard across the region.

Manoj Narayan Shetty, Deputy Vice President of TUV NORD Middle East, said: “We at TUV NORD are privileged to host the first lead auditor training program (ISO 18404) out of United Kingdom in cooperation with QCC and RSS. We are confident that this initiative from QCC will benefit all industries irrespective of their nature of business in refinement of their processes by implementing Lean, Six Sigma or Lean & Six Sigma. We look forward to be the first Certification Body in the region for ISO 18404.”
