Zayed Residence beneficiaries and volunteers participate in the distribution
Building on the successful Haress distribution initiative undertaken by Watani across the UAE to uphold the old national tradition, more than 20 Watani volunteers accompanied by 80 beneficiaries of Zayed Residence, distributed Harees plates before Iftar to the residents of Al Shahama, Al Rahba, Al Bahia in Abu Dhabi.
The distribution was followed by an Iftar ceremony at the Officers Club of Abu Dhabi Police attended by representatives from the Red Crescent and mothers of some of the beneficiaries of Zayed Residence. The initiative aims at enhancing the spirit of social convergence between all members of the society and to bring happiness and joy to their hearts. This is also aimed at integrating the beneficiaries of Zayed Residence with the larger society by encouraging their participation in social activities in addition to strengthening their commitment to the national heritage.
Watani has already organised many Haress distribution events since the beginning of Ramadan in Al Thaid area accompanied by Khalifa Bin Hwaiden, Member of the Federal National Council; Saeed Al Kaabi from the Al Dhaid Club and a number of Sharjah scouts. In Jumeirah, eminent social personalities like singer Mohamemd Al Mazim; media personalities Abduallh Ismail and Kifah Al Kaabi; actors from Shaabiat Al Kartoun and players from Al Ahli Sport Club participated in distributing Harees.
This year, Haress distribution has covered all the emirates in the UAE and gained strong participation from social figures thus achieving the goal of further establishing the ancient UAE tradition,. Watani has distributed Harees in remote areas like Wadi Al Hilo in Sharjah; Wadi Al Qour in Ras Al Khaimah;, in the Al Silaa at the border area in Abu Dhabi, Al Ruwais and Liwa; at Hitta and Lihbab in Dubai and Al Maqam and Al Hailai in Al Ain.
Watani has been organising Harees distribution since four years in various places all over the UAE with the assistance of a group of volunteers. These activities help in reliving UAE customs and traditions and strengthening the Emirati values especially during Ramadan.
