Eid Fair To Liven Up East Coast Celebrations

Inaugural Eid Al Adha Festival Begins At Expo Khor Fakkan

The Eid Al Adha celebrations along the east coast of the UAE are going to be special this time with the launch of the Eid Al Adha Festival at Expo Khor Fakkan.

Featuring more than 80 exhibitors from across the region and several parts of the world, the show aims to bring Eid shopping closer to the residents of the east coast, while embodying the rich values of Eid Al Adha and Emirati traditions.

The 16-day fair, organized by Aram Exhibition and held at Expo Khor Fakkan, was officially opened by Mr. Mohammed Sultan Bin Houwaden, First Vice Chairman, Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, on October 14 (Sunday). The show, however, had a soft opening on October 10, and will continue until October 25.

"With the launch of the Festival, Eid Al Adha shopping has been literally brought to the doorsteps of the east coast residents. Instead of travelling to bigger cities and hopping from one shop to another, they can now find all their requirements under a single roof, that too from a diverse range of retailers and manufacturers," said Mr Houwaden.

Expo Khor Fakkan works under the aegis of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry and organises trade fairs in association with Expo Centre Sharjah.

The show is expected to cater to residents from Fujairah, Dibba, Masafi, Dhaid and Oman and leverage on the status of Khor Fakkan as a popular tourist destination and emerging commercial hub.

About a million tourists from Saudi Arabia alone are set to descend on the UAE to celebrate Eid Al Adha, while tens of thousands of citizens from other GCC states and tourists from the world over are expected to visit the country during this time.

Many of these visitors are likely to head to the east coast to enjoy its tranquil environs, surrounded by mountains and beaches. According to leisure consultants, most hotels and resorts in the region have good bookings for the holiday season, while enquiries are continuing to pour in.

"Sharjah, which is known across the region as a family-friendly destination, has a unique appeal for Arabs. And for those who want to celebrate Eid away from the din and bustle of big cities, there is no better place than Khor Fakkan. The Eid Al Adha Festival is well stocked to handle this holiday crowd," said Mr. Saif Al Midfa, Director General, Expo Centre Sharjah.

"A comprehensive multi-products show, the Eid Al Adha Festival will showcase all the household products ranging from food and beverages to clothing and jewellery items, and electronic gadgets and electrical appliances to toys and healthcare products," added Mr Midfa.

Being one of the most cost-effective platforms in the region, exhibitors are offering visitors discounted prices and bargains on bulk deals on a variety of products, some of which may not be found in usual malls.

The show is open for visitors from 4.30pm to 11.30pm during weekdays, and from 4.30pm to 12.30am during weekends.
