Aquatic Circus Opens A New World Of Fantasy, Wows The Crowds With Incredible Feats On Water

The Sharjah Water Festival 2012 has been attracting huge crowds since it opened on Wednesday (December 12) with the Magic of Water presented by the Russian Aquatic Circus clearly stealing the spotlight and wowing the spectators.

The sixth edition of the Sharjah Water Festival was formally inaugurated by HE Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Al Qassimi, Chairman, Sharjah Media Corporation in the presence of SCTDA Chairman HE Mohamed Ali Al Noman and Director General HE Khalid Jasim Al Midfa.

Hosted by the SCTDA, the SWF this year boasts of a raft of new international shows and breathtaking performances and attractions this year never staged or seen before in the region. The clear winner, however, hands down is the award-winning Russian Circus on Water which is performing for the first time in the country and is the chief attraction of the festival this year.

The hour-and-half long presentation includes a series of performances by world renowned and accomplished artistes and craftsmen transporting the spectators to a magical and enchanting world of fantasy.

The show mixes impossible combinations of fire and water, opening a new world of acrobats, equilibrists and gymnasts. The incredibly vivid performances of the show have a distinct style and unique inventiveness never seen before in this part of the world. The fantastic choreography both in the water and high above it is simply breathtaking.

Of course, no circus would be complete without the antics of clowns and feats of animals. So the Aquatic Circus also features animals performing incredible water stunts with their human partners delighting the spectators.

Commenting on the Magic of Water, an SCTDA official said that the carefully selected troupe of performers comes from different disciplines—acrobats manipulating ropes for high speed routines, high flying mermaids performing impossible acts of contortion and aerial gymnasts and synchronized swimmers thrilling with their skills and agility.

The Circus on Water will be performing daily at 8.30 in the evening at Al Majaz Park by the Khalid Lagoon during the 10-day long festival. The SCTDA officials said that the Festival this year includes a rich and diverse mix of international entertainment and artistic fair, from the adventures of Sinbad the Sailor to Ohmies American musical to puppetry shows from Poland and Burma besides loads of other fun and games. Meanwhile as a special gesture, free parking has been made available around Al Majaz Park during the festival that wraps up on December 21.
