Coordinating Meeting Between Dubai Customs, Abu Dhabi Customs And Federal Customs Authority


Regarding Consolidating Of Cooperation And Simplifying Procedures At Border Outlets










Dubai Customs Department, Abu Dhabi Customs Department and Federal Customs Authority held a meeting in the Head Quarter of the Authority in Abu Dhabi, to discuss few subjects related to the challenges that encounter trade at the bilateral outlets. The meeting was chaired by His Excellency Mr. Saeed Khalifa Al Mari Deputy Director General in the Federal Customs Authority. Dubai Customs was represented by Mr. Mohammed Matter Al Mari Executive Director of Customs Cargo Operations, while Abu Dhabi customs was represented by Mr. Abdulla Hassan Al Alkeim Manager of Customs Affairs Administration. The meeting was about facilitating the bilateral transactions between the United Arab Emirates and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, few recommendations were accomplished which may have its positive effect on the trade at the bilateral outlets. These recommendations confirm the necessity of mutual co-operation between the Customs Department in the United Arab Emirates, through exchanging of intelligence and customs information, as well as studying the possibility of electronic linking between these Departments to ensure smooth run of the business and flow of cargo movement. The attendees decided to study the possibility of establishing a professional committee in Customs Operations chaired by the Authority with the membership of local Customs Departments. The attendees decided to write to Saudi Customs through the competent parties in the State to find a mechanism to exchange information regarding Customs Offences. In addition to that they discussed the possibility to find a mutual mechanism between Local Customs Departments and the Federal Customs Department to establish Federal RILO Office. In order to validate and follow up these recommendations and discuss the ways of cooperation the attendees requested to conduct a joint meeting between Federal Customs Authority, Local Customs Departments and Ministry of Interior. On his part Mr. Mohammed Matter Al Mari representative of Dubai Customs confirmed the importance of the decisions the meeting concluded considering that it establishes to a new stage of cooperation between Local Customs Departments in the State and neighboring countries which will contribute in consolidating Customs work as well as consolidating the control operation on the outlets of the State borders.
