First Phase Of Traffic Diversion In Salam Street Announced

Abu Dhabi Municipality Issued An Important Announcement Regarding The Partial Closure Of Street No. 31, Which Links Salam Street And Muroor Road

Abu Dhabi Municipality issued an important announcement regarding the partial closure of Street No. 31, which links Salam Street and Muroor Road. This is part of the first phase of the Salam Street Improvement Project, the municipality’s comprehensive development plan and infrastructure upgrade in the Salam and Eastern Ring Road areas. The first stage of traffic diversion is part of Contract 2 of the Salam Project, which will commence on October 23 and will continue for the next 18 months. A second detour stage will be announced very soon. As such, Abu Dhabi Municipality has taken exhaustive measures to ensure the smooth flow of traffic in Salam Street despite the closure of some existing intersections while construction takes place. The Salam Street Project is in keeping with the capital’s strategic vision of creating a modern Abu Dhabi that is on par with the most progressive cities in the world. It is also a very timely response to the massive population growth and increased demand for first-rate infrastructure. HE Juma Mubarak Juma Al Junaibi , General Manager of Abu Dhabi Municipality, stressed that Salam Project will transform this main route into a free flow facility, a network of roads and tunnels with grade separations and intersections without traffic signals. Likewise, it is in keeping with Abu Dhabi Vision 2030, which highlights the municipality’s aspiration of playing a key role in the economic development and social advancement of the capital. Engineer Abdullah Al-Shamsi, Director of Internal Roads and Infrastructure of Abu Dhabi Municipality, said that: "The municipality is committed to providing an integrated infrastructure solution according to the highest international standards. We are also dedicated to making the lives of all residents easier and more comfortable by putting our efforts into the modernization of roads and transport system in Abu Dhabi.” The best way to get to Street No. 31, according to Engineer Mohamad Ahmad Al Katheeri, Project Manager, Salam Street Improvements, Contract 2, is through Street No. 29. He advised motorists coming from Maqta and Musaffah Road to take alternative routes, for example, through Airport Road and Khaleej Al-Arabi to reach the Corniche. He also urged people to take the side of caution by driving responsibly and appealed for their full cooperation in order to avoid accidents, traffic jams and delays. The Salam Street Project includes the establishment of a series of tunnels and surface roadways and junctions that run along Salam Street and leads to Mina Road. The new road network, including the four new tunnels, is expected to ease traffic and significantly reduce travel time across Salam Street.
