Students From The Abu Dhabi Women’s College Bloom At The Desert Rose Exhibition At Ghaf Gallery


Over 100 artworks by 16 students on ; Students keen to show their talents to prospective employers










The Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation (ADMAF) are proud to be supporting the ‘Desert Rose 2009: Out of the _’ exhibition, where sixteen senior students from the Applied Media department of the Higher Colleges of Technology’s Abu Dhabi Women’s College will display work produced throughout their three years of college education.  The exhibition, now in its 8th year, is held under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Chancellor of the Higher Colleges of Technology.

The aim of the event is to showcase the students’ best work to the community, the media industry and prospective employers.  These works will include graphic design, multimedia, audio, photography and video works.

Dr. Bradley Cook, Director of Abu Dhabi Women’s College, said:

“One of the college’s strategic goals is to foster our students’ creativity and innovation, and we’re proud to support the exhibition of our graduating students from the Applied Media Program. Prestigious Media and Design programs around the world show their work in gallery exhibitions, and we’re happy that our students can have the same experience.  The Desert Rose exhibition showcases their best work.”

This year, the third year students are keen to demonstrate the high level of skill gained through their studies, and are determined to communicate to the prospective employers that they are ready to begin their careers within the media industry. 

Mrs. Hoda Al Khamis Kamoo, Founder of the Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation, said:

“Through our extensive educational programme, ADMAF is proud to be supporting the next generation of young female Emirati talent through the Desert Rose exhibition.  The various ways in which the students convey their thoughts, beliefs and creativity is astonishing, and I know they will be a credit to the industry as they begin their exciting careers.”

Desert Rose 2009: Out of the _, is organized by the students under the direction of Cordula Peters, one of ADWC’s graphic design instructors. The students are responsible for all aspects of the event including the design of all promotional materials for the event, planning the layout of the exhibition, and installing the works in the gallery. The exhibition will run from 1-11 June, 2009, at the Ghaf Art Gallery, Abu Dhabi. For more information on the event, please visit www.desertrose2009.com.
