Promotions And Marketing Campaigns Intensify As Sharjah Spring Promotions 2009 Draws Near


Major preparations for Sharjah’s eagerly-awaited annual event underway










Sharjah, UAE, January 5, 2009: In line with the major preparations being made for the Sharjah Spring Promotions (SSP) 2009, a coordination meeting was recently held at the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) office between participating departments, agencies and government institutions to discuss and review possibilities of intensifying Sharjah’s marketing and promotional campaigns for the coming year. Discussions also revolved around the ongoing preparations for Sharjah Spring Promotions 2009, which is considered to be one of the most awaited events in Sharjah.

Present during the meeting were Hussein Mohammad Al Mahmoudi, Director General, SCCI; Mohammed Ali Al Noman, Director General, Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA); Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, Director General of Expo Centre Sharjah; Marwan Jassim Al Sarkal, CEO of Al Qasba Development Authority; Hisham Al Mazloom, Director of Arts, Department of Culture and Information, in addition to representatives from the Economic Development Department, Sharjah Municipality, the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, social development centres and Sharjah Museums Management Authority. During the meeting, a comprehensive review was made on Sharjah’s marketing and promotional campaigns, discussing the possibility of further enhancing and developing the strategies to help boost Sharjah’s status in the different sectors of trade, tourism, art, sports and culture. The participants decided on holding more specialised and integrated events to bolster Sharjah’s position not only on the domestic front but in the international trade and tourism market as well.

Ibrahim Rashid Al Jarwan, SCCI Director for Economic Affairs said, “The Sharjah Spring Promotions promises to be more exciting this year. Different events and activities will be held in various places in the emirate, which will include special promotions in various shopping centers and recreational activities in the gardens and parks that will be held in cooperation with Sharjah Municipality. We are confident that this year’s festival will generate substantial interest and underline Sharjah’s standing as a prime destination for business and leisure.”

Hussein Mohammad Al Mahmoudi, SCCI Director General, said, “The meeting focused on coordination and consultation between representatives of different departments and agencies of Sharjah’s trade and tourism sector. Tourism is high during the months of January and February, one of the main reasons why the Sharjah Spring Festival is held at this time of the year.”

“Moreover, the meeting also focused on the quality of the programs and the special events that will take place during the festival, which reflects the rich cultural heritage of Sharjah. Other points discussed were the role of the hotel and hospitality sector in boosting tourist inflow and the need to provide hotels with festival-related publicity materials that they can use to promote the event,” he added.

The Organizing Committee of Sharjah Spring Promotions 2009 also made a presentation that informed the participants of all ongoing preparations being made for the Spring Festival which will run for a forty-day period starting January 15, 2009.

Other activities scheduled for the festival are a "Touches" exhibition, organized by the Family Development Centre in Al Qasba; desert activities held in the Al Budayr region in cooperation with the SCTDA; beach events in cooperation with Sharjah Girl Guides; and a marketing fair and exhibition featuring the eastern region’s top trade and wares.
