Abu Dhabi Expands Programme For World’s Largest Oil And Gas Technical Conference

ADIPEC Technical Conference Programme Encompasses Digital Transformation of Oil and Gas Industry

The Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC), already the world's largest for oil and gas professionals, has seen a significant increase in scope for its 2018 edition as the industry adapts to rapid change and embraces the power of emerging technology. An expanded programme has included sessions on the practical aspects of digitalisation, such as the use of  artificial intelligence in the oil and gas sector , as well as additional sessions for specialised areas such as  drilling and completion technology,  and  field development .

"We are seeing a very rapid evolution of the energy landscape, and sharing knowledge and experience is essential for the oil and gas industry to thrive into the future," said  Christopher Hudson , President – dmg::events. "New topics within both the strategic and technical conference programmes at ADIPEC ensure the conversations are relevant to the concerns of today's oil and gas professionals, and that the event remains a forum for the industry to drive positive change, seeking out new opportunities for growth."

Organised by dmg::events, ADIPEC includes around  98 0 speakers scheduled for more than  200 strategic and technical  sessions, bringing together some of the industry's most respected experts, global leaders and top decision-makers. More than 10,000 conference delegates will attend sessions over the course of the event's four days.

The main technical programme is managed by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), ensuring it  covers topics of immediate relevance to industry professionals.  Conference sessions include exploration and production geoscience;  unconventional resources; gas technology; field development; health, safety and environment; drilling and completion technology; artificial intelligence; petroleum advanced analytics; offshore and marine; production facilities technologies; people and talent; and project engineering and management.

As ADIPEC's global standing continues to grow, so too does competition to present papers during the technical conference. ADIPEC  received a total of  2,829 technical  abstract submissions for presentations at this year's edition,  from 541 companies in the oil and gas industry, in 58 countries.  The ADIPEC 2018  te chnical committee, comprised of  industry-leading experts, selected 748  high- quality abstracts, representing an acceptance rate of  more than 26 per cent.  The technical categories for this year's paper proposals were said to be more comprehensive than ever before.

This programme also features nine technical industry panel sessions to provide insights on key issues, challenges and potential solutions shaping the oil and gas industry today and in years to come. Panel topics range across the development of unconventional resources in the Middle East, integration across the upstream and downstream value chain, human capital challenges for the industry, economic and environmental sustainability, and the impact of emerging technologies.

A further eight technical panels, organised by dmg events, focus on the downstream sector. Panel discussions encompass gas processing and hydrogen technology, refining technology and operations and marketing, petrochemicals, project management and engineering, and marketing and distribution of refined products. Downstream panels also consider digitalisation, including artificial intelligence, and connected performance technology and services.

A separate strategic conference programme features two ministerial sessions, four global business leader sessions and four downstream global business leader sessions, t wo global  offshore  and marine business leader sessions, ten  C-suite dialogue sessions, and  two CEO energy finance breakfasts .  The final day on Thursday is dedicated to six inclusion and diversity in  energy  sessions, focusing  specifically  on engaging conversations to inspire, change and put forward solutions towards building a diverse and female-inclusive oil and gas industry.

"ADIPEC  creates an unrivalled opportunity for industry experts to learn from world-class speakers across four days of high-level technical content ," said  Christopher Hudson . "It is a n essential platform for such an evolving industry, where we bring together an array of technical expertise to oil and gas professionals. It is truly the place to sharpen your knowledge and share best practices, spanning the upstream, midstream and downstream value chain, which will in turn drive business and innovation forward."

Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE; hosted by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC); and supported by the UAE Ministry of Energy and Industry, the Abu Dhabi Chamber, and the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority, ADIPEC will take place from 12 to 15 November 2018, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).
