School Health Services Joint Committee Discusses H1N1 Prevention Measures In Schools

School Health Services Joint Committee stressed today the need for daily monitoring at schools to ensure that all health services are provided and that clinics are equipped understand the notification procedures and recommended actions for any suspected influenza cases.

At a meeting chaired by Mohammed Salem Al Dhahiri, Director of Abu Dhabi Educational Zone, the committee also reviewed the preparation of school clinics, and their readiness to administer vaccines to students once instructions are issued to do so and vaccines have been distributed amongst schools.

The meeting was convened to discuss strategic prevention measures of H1N1 influenza at schools, and ongoing efforts to create awareness amongst students and staff. The meeting was attended by senior officials of ADEC and Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA).

The committee commended SEHA’s efforts in providing Abu Dhabi, Al-Ain and Al-Gharbia schools with a number of H1N1 awareness bulletins to act as a public source of information in schools. The committee agreed to continue to provide awareness materials to both public and private sector schools in both English and Arabic.

The committee also reaffirmed that all schools that were previously lacking school clinics, have now been provided with well-equipped facilities and staff to handle any suspected cases.
