twofour54 Confirms Association With Capital’s First Broadcast And TV Content Events

• Middle East broadcast media is forecast to expand at double-digit annual rates over the next five years• Market needs a new approach to exhibitions, says McGill

The capital’s upcoming exhibition duo, Middle East Broadcast Solutions (MEBS) and Middle East Television (METV), has secured the support of twofour54, Abu Dhabi’s content creation community, according to the event organisers.

Dominic McGill, CEO of Nexus Global Events, said that endorsement of MEBS and METV by twofour54 stands in testament of the centre’s focus on the development of content creation across all media platforms.

“We are fast-gaining support for MEBS and METV, as shown by the association with twofour54 and other leading players. Our promise is that these double-hit events are poised to take the industry’s conversation to new levels.”

He said that MEBS and METV are set to change the face of exhibitions as they showcase the potential of the Middle East broadcast and content sectors.

“The B2B exhibition sector has outgrown itself and Nexus is looking to provide a ‘new model’, with MEBS and METV as the frontier events in this shift,” McGill stated.

“We refuse to be in the business of selling exhibition space. We are crafting a new model that will see Nexus’ events play a strategic role in the sectors it supports and indeed in the region’s economic growth. Our events will provide a platform for an industry to drive the industry’s development.”

McGill said that Abu Dhabi provides the natural environment for such cutting-edge exhibition and conference platforms, citing Abu Dhabi’s current MICE strategy through the recently-launched Advantage Abu Dhabi (ADD).

AAD is a new initiative with its sights set on attracting significant MICE business to Abu Dhabi. It focuses 12 strategic sectors, including tourism, healthcare, telecommunications, and media.

McGill indicated that the Middle East media market is set to expand at double-digit annual rates over the next five years, outstripping the worldwide average, pegged at 6.6 percent.

“This region will lead the global growth of the broadcast solutions and content sector from 2010,” he predicted.

twofour54’s CEO, Tony Orsten said that the hub’s association with MEBS and METV reinforces its commitment to support the development of a sustainable Arab media and entertainment content creation industry.

“Events such as these, which bring together the region’s leading content creators and media professionals from around the world, form an important part of our aim which is to establish Abu Dhabi as a regional centre of excellence for the region’s media industry,” Orsten said.

MEBS and METV will run over three days (from November 17 2009), and looks set to attract in excess of 120 leading names from the global broadcast and TV content sectors, as well as players from the UAE. The events are tipped to draw more than 5,000 industry visitors into the capital.

“twofour54’s support of our inaugural events adds tremendous weight and will help drive our ambitions of providing an intelligent, relevant platform for the media content industry to do business at this important phase in its development,” McGill concluded.

Nexus recently announced that it has earmarked more than 40,000 square foot of exhibition space in Abu Dhabi across four events up to May 2010. In 2010, alongside MEBS and METV, Nexus Global Events will also launch Sports Arabia and Franchise Arabia at ADNEC.
