India’s Michelin-Star Masterchef Enroute To Abu Dhabi Vineet Bhatia Joins Gourmet Abu Dhabi’s Headline Cast

The chef who elevated Indian cuisine in Britain to new heights and now has two Michelin stars to his name is on his way to the UAE capital as part of the star-studded cast of Gourmet Abu Dhabi – the 15-day culinary celebration which gets underway through 18 of the UAE capital’s most prestigious restaurants next week.

Masterchef Vineet Bhatia, who became the first India-born chef to win a Michelin star for his Rasoi restaurant in London’s fashionable Chelsea district and only six months ago, clinched a second for his Rasoi By Vineet restaurant in Switzerland is now only the second British chef to hold Michelin-stars in more than one country.

Lovers of Indian food can find out what makes the culinary creations of this son of Bombay so special when he serves up epicurean sensations at the Rangoli lifestyle restaurant at the Yas Island Rotana which is dedicated to North and South Indian cuisine from February 16-19.

“This is proving to be extremely popular with diners from within the UAE. This is only to be expected as Indian food is a favourite among many expatriates, Indians and British in particular, and with Gulf nationals, as historically it has played a role in the evolution of our own cuisine,” said Noura Al Dhaheri, Retail and Dining Section Head, Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA), which organises the annual culinary experiential programme.

“With Vineet’s inclusion in our expanded 2010 programme, we will get to taste Indian cuisine with the most subtle use of spices and a touch of Europe – it will be fusion of East and West which only enhances his widespread appeal.”

Masterchef Bhatia joins a stellar cast of masterchefs, culinary personalities and special guests for the second edition of Gourmet Abu Dhabi which runs from February 5. In all, masterchefs with 22 Michelin stars will be working with hosting chefs from Abu Dhabi’s top restaurants.

Gourmet Abu Dhabi is at the vanguard of the emirate’s campaign to be a global culinary destination leveraging the destination’s renowned hospitality credentials.
