Camel Sales At Dhafra Festival At Dh 350 Million











Camels sold and bought have reached Dh 350 million during the third Al Dhafra Festival which organised at Zayed City in the Western Region by Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH), H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region, announced.

’’I didn’t expect participation of such large scale and momentum,’’ Sheikh Hamdan said while receiving at his Liwa Palace yesterday camel owners Hamdan Ghanem Al Falahi and Rashid Ali Al Mansouri, winners of the first Al Bayraq lap at the camel beauty contest (Camel Mazayen),where each contestant is required to participate with a group of 50 camels, and the grand prize for first winner for both Asayel and Majaheem camels is Dh 1 million.

Sheikh Hamdan added the festival has registered unprecedented movement of selling and buying.

’’The 10-day festival has earned the UAE and its citizens a good reputation inside and outside the country as organisers of the world’s largest camel beauty competition given the tremendous participation in terms of the number of elite camels and camel owners and breeders,’’ he added.

This festival is part of the implementation of ADACH strategy to preserve the cultural heritage of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The festival succeed in promoting UAE’s heritage and culture and put Al Dhafra on world tourist map in a short time.
