Etihad Launches English Training Programme For Emiratis

Airways has welcomed the first group of UAE national employees to its English and work-place training programme, a course designed to develop the participation and careers of Emiratis at Etihad.

The group of 28 UAE nationals, from various departments at Etihad, will be involved in the 10-month English training course conducted by the British Council and held in Etihad’s dedicated training centre, The Etihad Academy.

Ray Gammell, Etihad’s chief people and performance officer, said: “This course is the latest addition to our growing Emiratisation scheme, which we are very proud of, and is part of our overall goal to develop the careers of our UAE national employees and help raise the UAE national component in the private sector workforce.”

Students will study a multitude of disciplines in the English language, with an emphasis on  business English. The programme will run from February to November.

Sam Fenwick, Professional Development Manager for the British Council, said: “This is an important training programme for the employees and the organisation as a whole. Through our communicative language teaching approach and our focus on business skills in work-based scenarios, our staff will train Etihad’s employees to the highest possible level.”

The Etihad Airways Emiratisation Programme offers a wide range of training opportunities for UAE nationals. With English language training as its latest addition, the airline also offers a cadet pilot scheme, a technical engineering development programme and a graduate management development programme to UAE nationals.
