Sheikh Hamed Inaugurates Abu Dhabi Wildlife Photography Exhibition











HH Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court inaugurated today Abu Dhabi Wildlife Photography Exhibition which is being organized by the Environment Agency- Abu Dhabi (EAD) from March 2-7, 2010 at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH), Wildscreen international and ARKive.

The exhibition, which is being organized to celebrate the International Year of Biodiversity 2010, aims to increase awareness among the general public and containing environment of the Emirates from animals and plants important must be preserved and their environment.

The opening ceremony, which coincided with the inauguration of Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2010, was attended by HE Majid Al Mansouri, EAD’s Secretary General, HE Mohamed Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Director General of ADACH , Dick Emery, Wildscreen’s Chairman and Richard Edward, ARKive Director.

The exhibition includes 100 photographs of the types of marine fauna and flora and wild living in the UAE, including endangered species. Images, which will be on display until March 7, will travel on to Al Ain and be held at Al Ain Wildlife Park & Resort from March 21-25 and will then move to the Western Region (Al Gharbia) from April 12-16.

This photography exhibition highlights some of the amazing wildlife that can be found in the diverse habitats of the UAE and online at www.arkive.org and www.ead.ae

The organization of this exhibition is within the framework of the international partnership agreement that EAD signed with Wildscreen in 2008. Wildscreen is a conservation charity that has collected one of the world’s largest international wildlife photographic databases. EAD is principal sponsor of Wildscreen international ARKive. EAD support this charity to help raise awareness of Abu Dhabi’s threatened biodiversity and conservation programmes.
