Municipality Of Abu Dhabi Launches Community Market At Khalifa Park











The Municipality of Abu Dhabi City is launching a Community Market initiative; a platform where the participating families can exhibit a diverse range of products and home-made items; which starts of Saturday 20th March and continues up to 30th April 2010, opens at 04.00 pm to 10.00 pm daily during the week days, and the closing time is extended during weekends up to 12.00 am (midnight) at Khalifa Park; Abu Dhabi.

The initiative which is being organize in coordination with the General Directorate of Abu Dhabi Police and Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development; involves the provision of a wide spectrum of activities; which include funs, games, adventures, live shows, sports quizzes, music ’&’ artistic shows, folklores, foods and several other recreational activities; which promise to offer entertainment to all segments of the community of various ages, cultures and inclinations.

Dr. Badirah Al Dhahiri, Director of Community Service Division at the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City, said: "The Community Market initiative has diverse economic ’&’ social dimensions as it helps the participating families, to exhibit their products to a wider population. It is also viewed as a family gathering in an open, receptive and social marketing platform offering a host of diverse activities, rich events and fun spots; which would realize the objectives of the Municipality to up the social interaction and communication through launching initiatives targeting the whole community.

"Home-made products are usually characterized by high quality ’&’ diversity, and the UAE has a diverse range of multi-cultural communities. People naturally have a tendency and aspiration to explore and taste other people’s experiments and cultures, hence family products always entice people to try and experience them. This prompts the participating families to improve their products in terms of shape and content, particularly noting that the exhibition is featured by diverse products spanning clothes, foodstuffs, handicrafts, traditional foods, perfumes, incense and other products which are attractive to visitors of different backgrounds, tastes and ages. It remains to be said that much emphasis is placed on quality and safety as preconditions for any commodity to be offered" said Badriah in a final remark.
