Dot Launches Bus Services In Delma Island |

As part of its endeavour to develop a world-class integrated public transport network catering to the needs of the community in different parts of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, the Department of Transport (DoT) in Abu Dhabi today announced the launch of bus services in Delma Island in the Western Region of Abu Dhabi. The new services in Delma Island include two routes served by four buses with capacity of 50 passengers each. Public bus route 71 and 72 will be operating in Delma island serving Shaabiya Al Jebel, Etisalat, Delma Airport, Delma Municipality, Ferry terminal, Al Farazdaq school, Delma Hospital, and Delma Souq and vice versa. The buses serving on route No. 71 start at 5:14 AM and finish at 11:06 PM while route No. 72 starts at 5:25 AM and finishes 11:17 PM. The new services will operate on a fixed schedule in tandem with the timings of the ferry services. Through this new service, DoT aims at providing effective and convenient transport solutions to the residents by integrating the road and water public transport modes. The bus fare for the one-way journey will be AED 1. Saeed Mohammed Fadel Al-Hameli, General Manager of Bus Office at the Department of Transport in Abu Dhabi, said that the launch of bus services in Delma Island is considered a major step in improving the transport infrastructure within the island. He said: "The Department of Transport is working on the upgrade of the transport infrastructure in cities and suburbs of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and this new service in Delma Island falls under the plan developed by the Bus Office to gradually launch new public bus services in the Western Region.
