Jotun’s Cutting Edge Paint Technology Supports Abu Dhabi’s ’Green’ Building And Construction Initiatives

Leading paint manufacturer showcases high-end ’nanotechnology’-based ’Jotafloor Rapid Dry’ at ’Cityscape Abu Dhabi’

Jotun Paints, one of the world’s leading producers and suppliers of paints and coatings, is supporting Abu Dhabi’s pioneering initiatives towards ‘green’ building and construction through environmentally safe paints and coatings based on cutting-edge paint technology. This includes the company’s latest offering - ‘Jotafloor Rapid Dry’, the first floor coating based on ‘nanotechnology’, a technology that involves the development of materials with particles at a molecular scale, which has recently been unveiled in the Middle East. With aims to increase the awareness about its environment friendly paint range, Jotun Paints is showcasing ‘Jotafloor Rapid Dry’ at ‘Cityscape Abu Dhabi’ (Hall No.6, Stand No 6A40), which opened today (April 18, 2010) at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC) Exhibition Centre.

Amidst projections of further growth of infrastructure projects, with statistics from research firm Proleads revealing that civil project buildings in the construction or pre-construction phase in Abu Dhabi are at present valued at a massive USD 247 billion, Jotun is gearing up to leverage the extensive potential in the capital as part of its strategy to secure sales growth of 5 to 8 per cent this year. In addition, the company is also highlighting at the event the eco-friendly features of its ‘Jotashield Thermo’ and ‘Fenomastic Gold’, which have been used in many developments seeking environmental certification according to the Abu Dhabi Government’s directive.

“As the world continues to witness growing concern for the environment, Abu Dhabi is taking the lead in the region in terms of undertaking significant steps towards sustainability, and we are pledging our 100 per cent support for all the government’s current and future initiatives,” said Sverre Knudsen, General Manager, Jotun Paints - Abu Dhabi. “Our sizeable investments towards research and development have led to the formulation of a range of environmentally-safe paints and coatings, and our latest product - ‘Jotafloor Rapid Dry’ - underlines our intense focus on pushing the envelope in this area of product development.”

The development of the iconic ‘Masdar City’ is a testament to Abu Dhabi’s firm resolve towards sustainability and environment friendly development, which is in turn driving the demand for products that offer environmental credentials. As the preferred choice of developers of sustainable projects, Jotun has supplied its ‘Fenomastic Gold’, an acrylic option under the ‘Fenomastic’ range that boasts of anti-fungus properties, anti-flame spread certification and crack tolerance up to one millimetre, to be used for the ‘Masdar Institute of Science and Technology’ project. In addition, ‘Jotashield Thermo’, a product under the ‘Jotashield’ range and formulated with thermal insulation properties that result in superior heat deflection and reduced interior temperature and cooling costs was recently used in the ‘Highland Resort Villas’ project, also in Abu Dhabi.

“‘Cityscape Abu Dhabi’ is one of the most important events for the region’s construction sector, and with the capital gaining a lot of attention from global investors due to the business potential and opportunities it offers investors, we are confident that our presence in this event will generate considerable attention for our newly launched products. The potential for growth is further expanded by the growing regional demand for quality products and services, which are safe and environment friendly. As such, we remain committed to developing similar products, which is also a testament to our commitment to sustainability,” concluded Knudsen.
