EAD Organizes A Workshop On Inventory Of Greenhouse Gas Emissions In The Emirate Of Abu Dhabi











In support of the country’s efforts to meet the requirements of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi (EAD) organized a workshop to develop an action plan to inventory greenhouse gas emissions on the Emirate level, identify their (emissions) sources and develop plans to reduce the environmental and economic impacts of such emissions on the Emirate.

A large number of representatives from various organisations at the local and federal level attended and issued important recommendations.

Workshop participants reviewed the plan to create an inventory of greenhouse gas emissions on the Emirate level in coordination with all concerned sectors. It will provide the foundation to develop policies and strategies to reduce the impact of this phenomenon and reduce carbon emissions.

During the workshop, the main stages were discussed to collect data on greenhouse gas emissions which cause climate change according to the Convention. They include Carbon dioxide and Methane. The mechanism to collect data was reviewed and technical committees were formed from the various sectors, and the preparation of questionnaires for the inventory of emissions to develop a regulatory framework for the exchange of data required by government agencies representing the main sectors concerned in the emirate, which includes the sectors of energy, industry, agriculture, land use, waste , in accordance with the time frame specified for the project, which extends for two and half years starting from the second half of this year.
