EAD And Unibeton Clean-Up Mussafah - 1 Ton Of Trash Collected -











To highlight Earth Day, the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) teamed up in a unique partnership with Unibeton Ready Mix, the leading Ready Mix Concrete Provider in the UAE, to clean-up Mussafah Industrial Area.

Yesterday (Saturday April 24, 2010), 120 Unibeton employees and 30 MBM Dallah employees, a waste management service provider, came together with employees from the Abu Dhabi Municipality and Centre for Waste Management-Abu Dhabi to make Musaffah a better place to live and motivate the community to take a proactive role in caring for the environment.

The clean-up began at 8:30 a.m. near Unibeton’s batching plant in Mussafah and continued until noon. An estimated one ton of trash was collected which included plastic, pipes, construction material, paper, rubber tires, pieces of wood, pieces of rope, cans, etc.

“At EAD, one of our priorities is to raise public awareness about the hazards of pollution. Through this clean-up campaign, we are encouraging the public to adopt a positive attitude towards maintaining a clean and sound environment by practice and participation. Unibeton and other main players in the construction industry have a major responsibility to uphold in achieving a clean and sustainable future,” said Fozeya Al Mahmoud, Manager of EAD’s Environmental Education Department.
