Charity Rock Performances Raise Awareness For The Smile Train Cleft-Palate Charity |
||||||||||||
International recording artists, Sound Driver, are rocking Abu Dhabi this week with a tour to raise awareness and donations for the cleft palate charity, The Smile Train. The band took the opportunity to perform its song, especially composed for the charity, ‘Chasing Rainbows’. The band kicked off its tour with a performance on top of the Marina Mall tower yesterday afternoon, followed by a second more accessible performance on the ice rink in the mall. Today the group continued its series of picturesque performance venues, with an Etihad Airways Boeing 777 aircraft providing a unique and innovative backdrop. The band is no stranger to high altitudes, as this Chasing Rainbows tour follows an expedition in February to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro where the group set a new world record for the ‘Highest Altitude Rock Gig/Electrical Musical Performance on Land’. Among the group that took part in the historic charity climb was UAE national, Ibrahim Al Housani, 35, a corporate lawyer currently working for Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC), one of the charity’s many travel industry sponsors. Delighted to be reunited with his fellow climbers for the afternoon, Ibrahim Al Housani said: The Smile Train is a charity dedicated to providing free cleft surgery for millions of children in developing countries, and providing cleft-related training for the doctors and medical professionals who carry out these operations. To hear the song – and to donate to the Tour (and therefore The Smile Train) – please visit www.ChasingRainbowsTour.com The travel retail trade is a long-time supporter of the Smile Train charity, and ADAC has been a key sponsor of the campaign. Other sponsors include Etihad Airways, Abu Dhabi Aviation, and Marina Mall. |
