Health Authority Abu Dhabi launches Abu Dhabi Electronic Physicians Directory |

The Health Authority - Abu Dhabi, the regulative body for healthcare sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, launched today the Abu Dhabi Electronic Physician Directory, in a step towards improving public accessibility to healthcare through providing periodically updated information on licensed physicians in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The directory’s website http://www.haad.ae/ADPD, allows the public to search for physicians by medical topic or health issue; or by direct search through geographical location (Abu Dhabi, Al Ain or Western Region), doctor’s name and surname; or health facility’s name which the physician works at. Searchers are also given the option to search by physician’s gender, specialty and sub specialty. "The initiative aims also at improving self care and providing continuously updated information to public to help them choose the physician they find suitable through a transparent electronic system." The directory provides searchers a picture and short description of the physician’s background. It has also coupled the "Minhaal program", a website meant for patients and professionals trying to learn about a disease or a clinical symptom or problem. According to HAAD 2009 statistics there are 5,142 doctors, 8,142 nurses and 5,630 allied health professionals working in the healthcare sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. |
