The ’Nashwa’ Show Nominated For Social Award At Switzerland’s Rose d’Or Festival











The ‘Nashwa’ show, hosted by media personality Nashwa Al Ruwaini, has been nominated for a Social Award at Switzerland’s famed television program awards, the Rose d’Or festival. Produced by Nashwa’s production company Pyramedia, ‘Nashwa’ has just ended its fourth season on Dubai TV and has proven to be the most popular television show of its kind in the region addressing various social issues in the Arab world. This is the second time Nashwa has been nominated for a Rose d’Or, with a previous nomination in 2008 for ‘Nashwa’ in the Best Entertainer category.

The Rose d’Or, the only global award for television entertainment, is regarded by the industry as its most prestigious. The special Social Award category in which ‘Nashwa’ is nominated, only programs which best deal in a direct and enlightening matter with a significant social and humanitarian subject is selected. Nominated alongside ‘Nashwa’ are several programs from the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Canada and Australia.

The ‘Nashwa’ show has, throughout the past four seasons, pushed the boundaries of talk shows and issues addressed in the Arab world. The program has tackled important and often taboo subjects that lie at the base of Arab societies. While many were playing it safe, Nashwa uncovered secrets lying below the surface of the shiny exterior, earning the trust of guests and viewers to tell their stories the way they want them to be told.

The goal of the Rose d’Or Festival is to reward originality, quality and creativity in entertainment programming and to encourage excellence in television and new media. Throughout its history, the Rose d’Or has gathered the best o the year’s new entertainment and made it easy for international broadcasters, buyers, producers and press to see it all.

This year, a record 515 entries were submitted and 110 shows have been selected by an international jury panel. The winners will be decided during the 50th Rose d’Or festival, which will take place in Lucerne from September 20-22, 2010.
