Summer In Abu Dhabi Plans Marvel-ous Welcome For Superheroes |

Superheroes Spiderman, Ironman, the Incredible Hulk and Captain America will bring their own special brands of daring-do to the Summer in Abu Dhabi family festival, which opens at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) and across the emirate Thursday afternoon (June 24). Having graced comic book pages and the big screens worldwide for more than half a century, Marvel’s superheroes have set their sights on a new mission – ‘Marvel Heroes: Operation Green’ – when they’ll be showing everyone at Summer in Abu Dhabi how they can help save the world. A new-to-the-region interactive show, Spidey and Co. will teach children and families about the importance of eco-sensitivity and protecting the environment. In ‘Marvel Heroes: Operation Green’, the world’s most heroic characters will come together to educate audiences on energy conservation, recycling and green lifestyles. “This really will be edutainment at its best. The Marvel universe, with its many generation defining heroes, has captured people’s imaginations for decades and we expect them to do the same in Abu Dhabi through this first-of-its-kind fun yet thought-provoking show,” said Faisal Al Sheikh, Events Manager, Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA), which organises Summer in Abu Dhabi. ‘Marvel Heroes: Operation Green’ runs daily at ADNEC’s Hall 11 and is one of more than 10 high-profile activities being staged at the state-of-the-art, air-conditioned venue, including Laser Zone, Kids Zone, Play Motion, Dance-tricity, Bee Amazed, Junior Driving Schools and a 5-D cinema. Entry is just AED 15. Opening at 4pm on Thursday, Summer in Abu Dhabi 2010 takes in eight venues across the UAE capital and Al Ain – the first time it has reached out to the emirate’s Eastern Region heritage heartland. Summer in Abu Dhabi 2010, running until 4th August, is its largest edition to date and boasts an impressive entertainment line-up that includes great family activities, award-winning international acts, best-in-class edutainment and unbeatable ticket, hotel and attraction deals. Throughout Summer in Abu Dhabi, ADTA and its stakeholders are offering an expansive ‘one-for-one’ campaign which gets GCC travellers get free air seats, complimentary room nights, meal deals, discounted attractions and free tours. More than 30 four and five star hotels in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain are taking part in the promotion, which is also open to UAE residents.
