Hundreds Of Renewable Energy Experts Coming To Abu Dhabi











Hundreds of the world’s top renewable energy experts, researchers and academics have confirmed they will be attending the World Renewable Energy Congress in Abu Dhabi in September this year.

Now in its 11th year, the event is being co-organised by the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) and is supported by a number of international agencies, including the United Nations, Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) and the European Commission.

The Congress, which will be held from 25–30 September 2010 under the theme TOWARDS SUSTAINABLE ENVIRONMENT: Green Buildings and Renewable Energy Options, is under the Patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed AL Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region and Chairman of Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi. Sponsors include the National Energy and Water Research Centre-Abu Dhabi (NEWRC) and The Abu Dhabi Centre of Waste Management (CWM). The event is supported by Masdar.

Chairman of Organising Committee H. E. Majid Al Mansouri Secretary General, EAD said: “More than 600 participants are expected from 100 countries presenting papers and discussing major issues related to Global Warming, Environment and Green Technology”. The Congress topics include: Biomass Conversion Technology; Fuel Cell, Hydrogen, and Intelligent Energy Systems; Geothermal Applications; Low Energy Architecture; Ocean Energy; Photovoltaic Technology; Radiation and Solar Materials; Solar Thermal; Wind Energy; Energy and Gender-Equitable Development; and Policy and Strategy. The technical Committee consists of 72 scientists and technologists who are leading authorities in their fields.

Among the 130 invited outstanding speakers are University Heads and Deans, Heads of Departments, Industrial CEOs, leading architects and environmentalists from 40 countries who will enrich the Congress with their knowledge. Additionally, 300 contributors from various countries will also present their contribution at the Congress.

Among the highlights of the week-long agenda will be the awarding of the Congress Trophy to the country that has most successfully promoted renewable energy during the last 2 years. There will also be a student competition on “Towards Sustainable Environment in Green Building” that aims to encourage final year students of architecture in GCC countries to adopt sustainable building design.

The Congress will host one of the most effective technical exhibitions covering equipment and devices related to building technology, renewable energy and environment.
