Abu Dhabi To Host GESS 2011

Region’s leading education event to be held at ADNEC from 26-28 April

F&E, the organisers of GESS, the region’s leading education event, has announced that it will move the show to Abu Dhabi in 2011, in response to growing demand from both public and private educational institutions in the UAE. GESS 2011 will take place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Centre (ADNEC) from 26-28 April 2011.

To cater to growing demand from education professionals from across the UAE, the event will alternate between Dubai and Abu Dhabi, thus allowing all educational practitioners throughout the UAE to benefit from the comprehensive exhibition, as well as having access to a wide range of educational programmes and forums provided by GESS during the show.

Commenting on the announcement, Dr. Abdallah Al Amiri, Advisor to the Minister of Education said: “The selection of Abu Dhabi as the location for GESS 2011 is part of the Ministry of Education’s ongoing strategy aimed at working with partners to highlight educational programmes and initiatives across the UAE, and thereby enabling us to reach a wider audience. It is clear that there is significant demand for an event such as GESS, and we are committed to creating a platform for educational practitioners from across the UAE to benefit from.”

Clive Richardson, Chief Executive Officer, F&E commented: “Now in its fourth year, GESS has become a must-attend event for anyone working in the educational sector. Over the years, GESS has succeeded in attracting an interesting array of quality exhibitors and the feedback we have received from visitors shows us that there is a real need for an event that enables educational practitioners to come together and share knowledge and best practice.”

“As the leading exhibition centre in Abu Dhabi, the ADNEC was an obvious choice for this event, and we are pleased to announce our partnership with ADNEC. We look forward to bringing the event to Abu Dhabi in 2011 and building on the success of previous years”.

As a state of the art venue, offering high tech facilities, and easily accessible from both Abu Dhabi and Dubai, ADNEC will further open GESS up to leading educational supply companies from both Abu Dhabi and Dubai and the wider Gulf region while embracing all UAE educational zones. The move supports the Ministry of Education’s strategy of highlighting educational programmes across the entire UAE.

GESS, which has been running for three consecutive years, has succeeded in establishing itself as key event for educational professionals and suppliers in the Gulf region. Last year, the event attracted almost 6000 visitors over three days, up 15% on the previous years.

GESS 2011 will showcase a range of educational supplies and solutions including information technology and multimedia learning aids through to classroom and sporting equipment and teaching aids for special needs education. Last year’s GESS exhibition attracted several new exhibitors including global brands such as Microsoft, RM, Edutech and Visa as well as locally based companies such as Kidz Inc and Al Mazroui.
