ADCCG Announces 2nd Abu Dhabi Corporate Governance Conference |

The Abu Dhabi Centre for Corporate Governance (ADCCG) has today announced its 2nd Annual Conference on Corporate Governance in the UAE. The second annual conference, which is scheduled to be held on October 12, 2010 at The Fairmont Bab Al Bahr in Abu Dhabi is titled "Towards More Effective Boards of Directors" and is expected to bring together renowned corporate governance professionals and specialists from in the Middle East region. The key objective of the conference is to highlight the importance of the role played by the boards of directors and their responsibilities in line with best international practices and the local rules and regulations. Elaborating on ADCCG’s 1st Annual Conference, Khalfan Saeed Al Kaabi, Chairman, Abu Dhabi Center for Corporate Governance said "As the financial crisis have entered new, clearer horizons and as boards of directors find themselves under pressure to demonstrate independence, accountability and transparency; we chose to tackle the boards topic this year and draw attention to their roles and responsibilities especially in the post financial crisis era which casted doubts on the effectiveness of many corporate boards." The one day annual conference will be attended by various business heads, board members, CEOs, top senior executives, academicians and professionals of similar caliber from across the region. The conference sessions will explore various angles of the Boards of Directors, including board roles and responsibilities, structure and composition, strategy formulation, the role of the independent director; in addition, the conference will shed the light on companies experiences in implementing CG and in turn making its boards of directors more effective. |
